The Rensselaer County Legislature adopted a measure to protect groundwater supplies by regulating blasting. The Times Union reports that the measure affects Kinder Morgan’s controversial proposed pipeline by stipulating that a person or company responsible for blasting must perform a pre- and post-blasting sampling of well water quality. The Drinking Water Protection law passed by a 17-1 vote last night.
