A former Clinton County legislator and SUNY Plattsburgh College Council Chair has died.
The State University of New York at Plattsburgh announced Monday that Donald Garrant, retired vice president for institutional advancement, died Saturday at age 82.  

Garrant helped to establish the Plattsburgh College Foundation and was its first executive director.  He was appointed to the College Council by then-Governor George Pataki in 2002 and became its chair two years later.

Garrant also served on the Clinton County Legislature from 1974 until 2000, chairing it for eight years.  He also served on the boards of a number of community and regional organizations.
