Vermont officials say they're hiring an outside consultant to conduct an extensive assessment that could help determine fate of Vermont Health Connect.
The reemergence of a customer service backlog on the state's health insurance exchange has reignited calls for the state to ditch the exchange for a federal version of it.

Vermont Public Radio reports that the state House Committee on Health Care sought advice on how to proceed from an outside consultant Wednesday.

Frank Petrus, a senior managing partner at Gartner Consulting, has been hired to provide analysis of state exchanges.

Lawrence Miller, chief of health care reform for the governor, says the state plans to conduct an assessment as soon as it gets the exchange stabilized.
