Robert Caret Picked To Be New UMass President

Boston, MA – A new president has been selected for the University of Massachusetts. The board of trustees, after interviewing three finalists voted unanimously Thursday night to offer the job to Robert Caret. The 63 year old native New Englander has been president of Towson University in Maryland since 2003. He served 8 years as president of San Jose State University in California. WAMC's Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill spoke a short time ago with Caret who was at the Statehouse to meet for the first time with Governor Deval Patrick
