School Nutrition: Budgets, Portions and Micehlle Obama's New Anti-Obesity Campaign

Hartford, Ct – This week, First Lady Michelle Obama rolled out the "Let's Move" program to eliminate childhood obesity. One of her main objectives is to improve access to nutritious food in the nation's public schools. The state of Connecticut is currently ranked 10th in the nation for its delivery of healthy meals to public school children, much in part due to the efforts of Lonnie Burt, the Nutrition Services Director for the Hartford Public Schools and the Communications Director for the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut. Our Berkshire Bureau Chief Charlie Deitz spoke with Burt about the challenges of providing healthy meals on a budget
