Single Girls Guide at CapRep
By Sarah LaDuke
The World Premiere of the new musical, Single Girls Guide, is running at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY through March 30th.
Inspired by Jane’s Austen’s Emma - the show is flush with fun songs and features movie send-ups of 1960 PSAs.
It’s 1966 Manhattan and newspaper columnist Emma Woodhouse writes a column she inherited from an older, now deceased, woman. Emma is still single and about to turn 30. In a Helen Gurley Brown inspired move, Emma recruits a ‘Single Girl’ from Rhode Island and vows to overhaul her life.
The music and lyrics are by Tommy Newman and the production is directed its book-writer, Gordon Greenberg who join us.
