Oct 21, 2017

State Sen. Eric Lesser (D-Longmeadow) has chartered a bus to take people from Springfield to Boston on Oct. 24 for a public hearing on a bill to authorize a feasibility study of building a high-speed rail line between Springfield and Boston.

A public hearing is scheduled Tuesday at the Massachusetts State House on a bill to authorize a feasibility study of building a high-speed rail line between Springfield and Boston.

Two-term Democratic State Senator Eric Lesser of Longmeadow has made east-west rail a signature issue.

" I am very excited about the hearing, " said Lesser.  " We are going to be bringing a bus from Springfield out to Boston and we have a lot of people participating."

The project to link Boston and Springfield by rail has been endorsed by host of people and groups, including the state’s two Democratic U.S. Senators, three Democratic candidates for governor of Massachusetts, and Chambers of Commerce in the two cities, despite no formal cost-benefit analysis ever being done.
