Suspect Charged For Making False Bomb Threat At MCLA

Facebook: Jarret Ferriter

Police have charged a North Adams man for calling in a false bomb threat that shut down Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Monday. More than 1,800 people were evacuated as a result. Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of Jarret Ferriter in Northern Berkshire District Court Tuesday. According to The Berkshire Eagle, the 21-year-old has been charged with willful communication of a bomb threat and malicious communication of false information.  He was released on $1,000 bail and ordered to stay away from the MCLA campus.

North Adams Police arrested Ferriter Monday night after he admitted to making the call during a second interview with police. His fingerprints were found on a community phone in an area near campus apartments where the call originated. He is due back in court Nov. 17.

Police say Ferriter’s roommate said Ferriter mentioned making a bomb threat to avoid going to class Monday.

On Facebook, Ferriter lists himself as an MCLA student and McCann Vocational graduate.
