Two Charged With Stealing School Funds
The Massachusetts Attorney General has charged two former Springfield Public School employees with stealing school funds. WAMC”s Paul Tuthill reports
The two are facing larceny charges in connection with separate schemes that led to the theft of roughly $30,000 from Springfield’s Putnam Vocational High School. 45 year old Sherry Suber of Springfield, a former clerk typist at the school is accused of using her position to steal more than $14,000. Suber was responsible for collecting vocational funds from department heads and depositing the money in the bank. 53 year old Ann Berry, a former teacher, is alleged to have pocketed a total of $16,000 in profits from the school store. Both women are scheduled to be arraigned on January 8th.. The charges flowed from an internal audit that was conducted at the school in 2011.
