Vermont Governor Notes Job Training, Despite Few Jobless
Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin says a South Burlington electrical contractor is a good example of how the state is working to ensure businesses have enough qualified workers.
Omega Electrical has been working with the state to sponsor employees who get trained while working full time.
Shumlin said Wednesday that such programs are one reason the Vermont unemployment rate is tied for the third lowest in the country.
Last month, the Vermont Department of Labor said the state's unemployment rate of 4.4 percent was one of the lowest rates in the nation. But some employers have said they can't find enough trained workers.
