A Vermont man accused of crushing seven police vehicles with a large tractor has been found competent to stand trial.
State's attorney Alan Franklin requested the new competency evaluation after 35-year-old Roger Pion of Newport was found incompetent and hospitalized in January.
A psychiatrist recently found him competent.
Pion's new attorney, Chandler Matson, has asked for a status conference in about a month to update the court on the progress of the case.
The Caledonian Record reports that both Franklin and Matson say February would a realistic time to select a jury for trial.
Pion is facing multiple criminal counts after police say he drove his dad's tractor over six cruisers and a van at the county sheriff's department in Derby in August 2012, causing about $300,000 in damage.
