Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points to set a team-record with his 30th straight 20-point game, leading the New York Knicks to a 113-97 victory over the reeling Orlando Magic last night. Anthony's scoring tended to overshadow outstanding games by New York big men Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire who combined for 35 points on 17 of 18 shooting from the field against the Magic, who lost their seventh straight and 18th in 20 games. Paul Pierce scored 16 points and the Boston Celtics won their second game since losing Rajon Rondo for the season with a knee injury, beating the Sacramento Kings 99-81 last night. Jimmer Fredette played 18 minutes.
Elsewhere in the NBA Miami 105, Brooklyn 85. Phoenix edged ahead of the L-A Lakers 92-86. Atlanta topped Toronto 93-92. Chicago bested Milwaukee 104-88. The L-A Clippers trumped Minnesota 96-90. San Antonio 102 , Charlotte 78. And Utah beat New Orleans 104-99
Checking the NHL now Ottawa blew out Montreal 5-1 and Vancouver beat Colorado 3-0.
In top 25 College basketball 1st ranked Michigan won against Northwestern 68-46. 5th ranked Duke finished ahead of Wake Forest 75-70. 20th ranked New Mexico slid past Wyoming 63-59.
In other College basketball news Vermont beat Hartford 49-43. New Hampshire succeeded over Maine 57-54. and UMBC won against Binghamton 61-58.
