Western Massachusetts School Investigates Allegations Of Inappropriate Sexual Conduct

A private boarding school in western Massachusetts has placed a longtime faculty member on administrative leave as it investigates allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct involving a student in the 1970s.

The Williston Northampton School's headmaster and the president of the trustees said the faculty member is no longer on campus and the school has hired an investigator from an independent law firm and notified law enforcement authorities about the allegations.

No names were made public and the gender of the teacher and student were not disclosed.

Head of School Robert Hill III said school officials learned of the alleged misconduct last week. He did not disclose how it came to light.

The Easthampton school has more than 500 boarding and day students in middle and high school.
