WAMC's award-winning daily news magazine show brings the listener the latest in local, national and world news. Join Brian Shields each weekday for the very latest.

The work of the WAMC News Team is combined each day with news and features from WAMC's National Productions, the BBC, Great Lakes Radio, and Stardate. You can also get a regional weather forecast from Paul Caiano.

The listener also can hear commentaries offered by a range of commentators who span the political spectrum such as former New York Common Cause leader Paul Elisha, former Republican Comptroller candidate Herb London, Professor of International History and Politics Steven Leibo, as well as WAMC's own political observer Alan Chartock. Highlights from the WAMC Listener Comment Line are usually aired on Friday's edition of Midday Magazine.

Report: Upstate NY Air Quality Improving

The American Lung Association released its State of the Air 2013 report on Wednesday. Compiled with 2011 data, the report finds more than 131.8 million people in the U.S. live in counties with unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution.

Ozone and particle pollution grades have improved in upstate counties monitored. Seiler says that although the grades given are better than in previous years, they are not grades that any student would want to brag about, with a few exceptions.

Williamstown Voters Decide to Take No Action on Housing Articles

More than 750 voters filled the gymnasium of the Mount Greylock Regional High School on Wednesday, with many expecting to vote on articles that would determine the future use for properties currently under conservation restriction.

One article was included as the result of a citizen’s petition, which sought to place a permanent restriction on the 30.5-acre parcel of land known as the Lowry Property, and a nearby 140-acre parcel known as the Burbank Property.

Negative Response to Proposed Fee to Cross Border
