The work of the WAMC News Team is combined each day with news and features from WAMC's National Productions, the BBC, Great Lakes Radio, and Stardate. You can also get a regional weather forecast from Paul Caiano.

The listener also can hear commentaries offered by a range of commentators who span the political spectrum such as former New York Common Cause leader Paul Elisha, former Republican Comptroller candidate Herb London, Professor of International History and Politics Steven Leibo, as well as WAMC's own political observer Alan Chartock. GOP Starts Early Campaign Against Potential Congressional Candidate

There are new Republican websites featuring the name of a potential Democratic contender for a congressional race in New York — but that potential candidate hasn’t announced a campaign.

The National Republican Congressional Committee has launched two websites along with a paid campaign highlighting a Democrat who has not officially announced a run in the 19th congressional district 2014 race against Republican Chris Gibson. Ian Prior is a spokesman for the NRCC.

Empire State's Apples Strike Back

Favorable weather during this year’s growing season means good news for the area’s apple farmers and the local economy.

The first varieties of this year’s apple harvest are now appearing ready to be picked. And this year, thanks to favorable weather during the growing season, will be a big improvement over last year’s meager harvests in upstate New York.

Isabel Prescott, owner of Riverview Orchards in Rexford, said that for her orchard, 2013 was a big improvement over 2012.
