Actor Alec Baldwin hosted a panel Friday evening in Rockland County on the Indian Point nuclear power plant. A state assemblywoman and the president of an environmental group were among those on the panel, calling for the shutdown of Indian Point.

The panel discussion, “Driving Without a License: Indian Point at the Crossroads,” was presented by the nonprofit Radiation and Public Health Project, with which Alec Baldwin has been connected for some time. However, Baldwin says this marks his first activist role specifically pertaining to Westchester-based Indian Point.

Rob Edelman: Last Tuesday Is Ancient History

Upon first seeing the word “vampire” in the description of ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, the latest Jim Jarmusch film, which was screened this year at the Toronto Film Festival, I thought to myself, “Oh, no. David Nightingale: Considering Oliver Sacks

In his book “The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat” Oliver Sacks decribes how a patient with agnosia – or one who couldn't recognize faces – (quote) “reached out his hand … and took hold of his wife's head.. [and] tried to lift it off, to put [the hat] on...”

I mention Dr Sacks, a Professor of Clinical Neurology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as one more in the genre of scientist/artists, like Alexander Borodin or Richard Feynman.

Obama 'Insiders' Share Stories
