The Roundtable

Weekdays, 9:00am

WAMC's The Roundtable is an award-winning, nationally recognized eclectic talk program. The show airs from 9am to noon each weekday and features news, interviews, in-depth discussion, listener call-ins, music, and much (much) more! Hosted by Joe Donahue and produced by Sarah LaDuke, The Roundtable tackles serious and lighthearted subjects, looking to explore the many facets of the human condition with civility, respect and responsibility.

The show's hallmark is thoughtful interviews with A-list newsmakers, authors, artists, sports figures, actors, and people with interesting stories to tell. Since hitting the airwaves in May of 2001, The Roundtable has interviewed the likes of Arthur Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Maya Angelou, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Bob Dole, Bill O'Reilly, Steve Martin, James Taylor, Bill Cosby, Stephen King, Melissa Etheridge and lots of other really cool people. Plus, Wilco does our theme song. What more can you ask for?

Woodstock Film Festival – Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia's big break came in 1987, when he landed a significant role in the blockbuster film The Untouchables, starring Kevin Costner. He starred in Godfather 3 and teamed with an all-star cast for director Steven Soderbergh's remake of Ocean's Eleven.

Three years later, he returned to perform in the film's sequel, Ocean's Twelve. His latest film is At Middleton, which will be featured at this year’s Woodstock Film Festival.

Woodstock Film Festival – Mira Nair

Credit Dan Callister

Acclaimed filmmaker and activist Mira Nair is this year's honorary recipient of the Woodstock Film Festival’s 3rd annual Meera Gandhi Giving Back Award. The award honors a director, producer or actor who best delivers a message of social change and exhibits a strong compassion for philanthropy.

In addition to accepting the award, Nair will participate in the annual BMI-sponsored Music For Film chat at the festival along with Mychael Danna, the Academy-Award winning film composer who recently won Best Original Score for his work on Life of Pi.

After several years of making documentary films, Mira Nair made a stunning entry on the world stage with her first feature, Salaam Bombay! in 1988, the first Indian film to win the Camera D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Nair used the profits from the film's debut to create the Salaam Baalak Trust for India's street children. Her other films include Monsoon Wedding, Vanity Fair, The Namesake, and most recently The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
