The Roundtable

Weekdays, 9:00am

WAMC's The Roundtable is an award-winning, nationally recognized eclectic talk program. The show airs from 9am to noon each weekday and features news, interviews, in-depth discussion, listener call-ins, music, and much (much) more! Hosted by Joe Donahue and produced by Sarah LaDuke, The Roundtable tackles serious and lighthearted subjects, looking to explore the many facets of the human condition with civility, respect and responsibility.

The show's hallmark is thoughtful interviews with A-list newsmakers, authors, artists, sports figures, actors, and people with interesting stories to tell. Since hitting the airwaves in May of 2001, The Roundtable has interviewed the likes of Arthur Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Maya Angelou, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Bob Dole, Bill O'Reilly, Steve Martin, James Taylor, Bill Cosby, Stephen King, Melissa Etheridge and lots of other really cool people. Plus, Wilco does our theme song. What more can you ask for?

As our time at The Hyde Collection draws to a close, we want to meet one more very important member of the team here. Alan - June has been the director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks and Education Manager at The Hyde Collection. The Hyde Collection - Adirondack Theatre Festival

The Adirondack Theatre Festival is such a special theatre company offering new, interesting, fun and world premiere works of theatre. Their season this summer includes everything from Judy Garland, to Avenue Q, to – of course – Georgia O’Keeffe.

Mark Fleischer is the Producing Artistic Director of ATF and has been since 2007. He joins us to tell us about their upcoming productions, including their opening production: Heartbreaker: Two Months with Judy Garland.

In 1968, when he was 26, songwriter John Meyer met Judy Garland. The next two months were an emotional roller-coaster, but his life was changed forever. Inspired by his acclaimed memoir, Meyer brings to the stage the true story of his romance with a star whose flame was dying and how he attempts to rescue her from her self-destructive demons. John Meyer and the show’s director, Michael Bush, and star, Christine Andreas join us along with Mark Fleischer.

The Hyde Collection - Wiawaka Holiday House

When we decided to come north to broadcast live, we knew we wanted the folks from the Wiawaka Holiday House on the show. We certainly wanted them to share their amazing story and history with us. But, we also just get a kick out of saying Wiawaka.

Wiawaka is one of the oldest and longest continuously operated retreats for women in America. Today, Wiawaka continues as a summer retreat and on July 14th, they will be hosting a “Hyde Family Fun Day.”

Christine Dixon is the Executive Director of the Wiawaka Holiday House.

The Hyde Collection - Lake George Association

As thousands flock to Lake George each year to enjoy its pristine waters, perhaps few understand they have the members of the LGA to thank for those clean and clear waters. The Lake George Association is the leading citizen group responsible for conserving Lake George.

Never ones to let a teaching opportunity to pass, the Association has partnered with the Hyde Collection as part of their “My Summer Place” programming, they will be offering several “floating classrooms.”

The Floating Classroom with the Lake George Association will include a Hyde educator, and a teaching artist to learn about Lake George and the area where George O’Keeffe created her works. The program will include drawing lessons, one near the location of the Stieglitz property, as well as an up- close look at the water of Lake George.

To learn more about the LGA and their floating classrooms, we welcome Kristen Rohne, their Education Coordinator.

The Hyde Collection - Charles Guerin, Director

There is such a thing as perfect timing. Charles Guerin has been director of The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, NY for the past three months. It is a brand new job. But, he has taken the reins as a landmark exhibit is now open and the museum celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

A Chicago native, Guerin served as executive director of the University of Arizona Museum of Art from 2000-2012, where he created and endowed the institution's Archive of Visual Art.

Previously, Guerin was a commissioner of Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources from 1998-2000, and the executive Director of the University of Wyoming Art Museum in Laramie from 1986-2000.
