The Roundtable

Weekdays, 9:00am

WAMC's The Roundtable is an award-winning, nationally recognized eclectic talk program. The show airs from 9am to noon each weekday and features news, interviews, in-depth discussion, listener call-ins, music, and much (much) more! Hosted by Joe Donahue and produced by Sarah LaDuke, The Roundtable tackles serious and lighthearted subjects, looking to explore the many facets of the human condition with civility, respect and responsibility.

The show's hallmark is thoughtful interviews with A-list newsmakers, authors, artists, sports figures, actors, and people with interesting stories to tell. Since hitting the airwaves in May of 2001, The Roundtable has interviewed the likes of Arthur Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Maya Angelou, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Bob Dole, Bill O'Reilly, Steve Martin, James Taylor, Bill Cosby, Stephen King, Melissa Etheridge and lots of other really cool people. Plus, Wilco does our theme song. What more can you ask for?

The Hyde Collection - Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce

For over a decade and a half, artist Georgia O’Keeffe would return to Lake George for the summer. She referred to it as “My Summer Place.”

For many families throughout the country, Lake George is their family place. It is a spot where families come year after year and others will discover it for the first time – this year.

Michael Consuelo is the executive director at Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce joins us this morning to discuss the impact this exhibition will have on tourism, what impact tourism will have on this exhibit as well as the overall role the chamber plays in the lure of the “Queen of American Lakes” and the surrounding region.

Erin Coe has established a reputation as one of the leading museum curators in the country. Coe is the Hyde’s Chief Curator and current curator of the Modern Nature – O’Keeffe exhibit. She has also curated more than thirty other exhibitions at The Hyde Collection.

In association with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Hyde has organized a first-of-its-kind exhibition that closely examines the extraordinary body of work created by O’Keeffe of and at Lake George. From 1918 until the mid 1930s, O’Keeffe spent part of the year at Alfred Stieglitz’s family estate, a thirty-six acre property situated just north of Lake George village in the southern basin of the lake. The exhibition presents a selection of fifty-eight paintings from both public and private collections.

2013 Solid Sound Festival - MASS MoCA Events

Solid Sound is without a doubt a very busy time here at MASS MoCA - but the people who work at this contemporary art museum and presenting arts venue aren't ones to rest on their laurels. MASS MoCA hosts concerts, comedy shows, dance - and more - all year long. They present the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival in July and August and the FreshGrass Bluegrass Festival in September.

They present more than their fair share of one-off events, too - as well as providing space for residencies and workshops. Here now to tell us more are Performing Arts Curator, Rachel Chanoff and Performing Arts Director, Sue Killam.

2013 Solid Sound Festival - Jeff and Spencer Tweedy

The Solid Sound Festival is curated by the rock band Wilco. So it stands to reason we’d have a member of the band on our show today - and we do! Jeff Tweedy joins us to talk about Solid Sound and other Wilco goings-on.

Then, after a quick break, his son Spencer joins us, too! Spencer is the drummer for The Blisters - the band is playing this Sunday at the festival. They’ve been together for 10 years and put out an album on their website earlier this month. The album is called “Finally, Bored” - but we have a sneaking suspicion that Spencer is anything but. (The kid is busy is what we're saying.)
