The Roundtable

Weekdays, 9:00am

WAMC's The Roundtable is an award-winning, nationally recognized eclectic talk program. The show airs from 9am to noon each weekday and features news, interviews, in-depth discussion, listener call-ins, music, and much (much) more! Hosted by Joe Donahue and produced by Sarah LaDuke, The Roundtable tackles serious and lighthearted subjects, looking to explore the many facets of the human condition with civility, respect and responsibility.

The show's hallmark is thoughtful interviews with A-list newsmakers, authors, artists, sports figures, actors, and people with interesting stories to tell. Since hitting the airwaves in May of 2001, The Roundtable has interviewed the likes of Arthur Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Maya Angelou, Madeleine Albright, Jimmy Carter, John McCain, Bob Dole, Bill O'Reilly, Steve Martin, James Taylor, Bill Cosby, Stephen King, Melissa Etheridge and lots of other really cool people. Plus, Wilco does our theme song. What more can you ask for?

Volunteer Fire Departments Need More Members

The volunteer fire service is at a serious crossroads. Current membership is at its lowest point in nearly two decades, and further erosion could have dire consequences.

What the general public may not realize is the fire companies protecting their communities are often staffed exclusively by volunteers. When an emergency breaks out, these volunteers leave their homes and offices to respond, not the local firehouse, as paid firefighters do.

Lauren Oliver - Requiem

It’s been a long journey for Lauren Oliver. Not only is she the co-owner of the literary development company Paper Lantern Lit, she is the master behind several young reader novels such as Leisel & Po and The Spindlers. But Oliver is probably most well known for the dystopian Delirium Trilogy. The final book, Requiem, is now out, and readers are finally able to find out what happens to her beloved characters Lena, Alex, Hana and Julian as they wage war against the anti-love government, and fight for something they know is right.  Can love really be wrong?

Lauren Oliver will be at Oblong Books in Rhinebeck, NY  Sunday, April 28th with 3 other YA authors at 4PM.

Santino Fontana in "Cinderella" on Broadway

Sarah LaDuke and Santino Fontana backstage at The Broadway Theatre

Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is on Broadway for the first time. The beloved musical with its signature songs “Impossible,” “In My Own Little Corner,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful” - to name a few - was written for television and hasn’t had a production on the Great White Way - until now.

With a new book by Douglas Carter Beane, Cinderella is directed by Mark Brokaw and stars Laura Osnes as Ella, Victoria Clark as her dotty-to-dazzling Fairy Godmother, Harriet Harris as her puffed-up and pernicious stepmother, and Santino Fontana as Topher, the Prince conflicted on his way to charming.
