Vox Pop

Monday - Friday, 2pm - 3pm

Vox Pop is WAMC's live call-in talk program. Guests with expertise in areas ranging from Astronomy to George Washington speak with WAMC's hosts and answer questions posed by WAMC listeners. We also have a number of forums and guests who are regulars to Vox Pop such as our Science Forum and Gardening program.

Every Monday is a "Medical Monday."  Every Friday is a "Food Friday."

It’s our Pets & Vets program this afternoon, and here to take your calls is Dr. Carrie O’Loughlin of Delmar Animal Hospital in Delmar, New York. 

A USDA category one accredited veterinarian; Dr. O’Loughlin is a graduate of Cornell University. She joined the Delmar Animal Hospital staff in 1998. She and her husband Mike share their home and lives with 2 dogs—Marcus and Ivy; 6 cats— Oliver, Ziggy, Annie Oakley, Homer, Sapphire and Rosebud; 2 fish tanks and a pond, complete with fish and frogs. Today the Supreme Courts of the United States is hearing the first of two cases that may be the deciding factors in whether same sex marriage is declared legal across the country. 

Today we want your take on the cases, today’s argument on California’s Proposition 8 law that banned gay marriage, and tomorrow’s case challenging the 1996 federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). WAMC's Alan Chartock hosts.

Dr. Matthew Adamo specializes in general and pediatric neurosurgery, including surgical treatment for epilepsy, brain and spinal cord tumors, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries and congenital and developmental abnormalities, such as spina bifida.

Tony is known from his work with Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, David Bowie, John Lennon and Buddy Rich, just to name a few are among the scores of artists Tony has recorded and played with. Vox Pop : Open Forum - Banning Sugary Beverages : 3/12/13

One day before a ban on certain sugary beverages in certain settings in New York City was set to take effect; a state judge ruled yesterday that the policy, championed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, should not be imposed.

In his ruling, Justice Milton A. Tingling Jr. called the rules, “arbitrary and capricious,” echoing consumer and beverage industry claims that the rules, which would include restricting the size of sugary drinks to 16 ounces or less at restaurants, street carts, and entertainment venues, are confusing and unenforceable.

Vox Pop : Medical Monday - Dr. Gregg Gerety : 3/11/13

Joining us today on Medical Monday to talk about endocrinology is Dr. Gregg Gerety.

After graduating from the University of Vermont, Dr. Gerety went to medical school at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He studied internal medicine in Albany, and completed his fellowship in endocrinology at Yale in 1988.

Board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism,  Dr. Gerety is a past-president of the American Diabetes Association - New York State affiliate. WAMC's Alan Chartock hosts.
