Monday - Friday, 2pm - 3pm

Vox Pop is WAMC's live call-in talk program. Guests with expertise in areas ranging from Astronomy to George Washington speak with WAMC's hosts and answer questions posed by WAMC listeners. We also have a number of forums and guests who are regulars to Vox Pop such as our Science Forum and Gardening program.

Every Monday is a "Medical Monday."  Every Friday is a "Food Friday."

Vox Pop : Gambling : 5/9/12

The top two executives at the non-profit New York Racing Association, which operates New York’s three state-owned horse tracks, were fired last week amid allegations they knew the company was collecting more than the legal amount of so-called takeout on certain bets, costing winning bettors an estimated $8.5 million dollars.

The firings have called into question the idea of gambling and gaming in general, as Governor Andrew Cuomo calls for a constitutional amendment to allow Las Vegas style casinos in the state.

Vox Pop : Osama bin Laden’s Death One Year Later with Dr. Richard Pfau : 5/2/12

It has been one year since Osama bin Laden, orchestrator of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, was killed at the hands of U.S. Navy Seals in Pakistan.

The nighttime raid on bin Laden’s compound further strained U.S. ties with Pakistani officials, who were not made aware that a U.S. operation would be taking place in the country. Viewed as an important U.S. ally in the region, Pakistan has also been the site of what has been described as a proxy war on suspected terrorists being fought by unmanned U.S. drone aircraft.
