Northeast Report feature reports from WAMC News bureau chiefs...plus commentary, arts news and interviews, the latest weather forecast and an afternoon business wrap-up. The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 15 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

Pittsfield Makes Way For Medical Marijuana

Under the ballot measure approved by Massachusetts voters legalizing medical marijuana last year, up to 35 licenses for dispensaries could be opened across the state. The state Department of Public Health revealed its final regulations for the distribution of the drug in May, and Pittsfield has been one of many localities working to change zoning regulations to accommodate the arrival of the dispensaries.

President of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk Jeremić visits Mt. Everett Regional School in Sheffield, Mass.

The president of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk Jeremić visited a school Southern Berkshire County yesterday to speak and answer questions from students.

Jeremić arrived at Mt. Everett Regional School in Sheffield via helicopter on Tuesday afternoon. After a luncheon and a meeting with a handful of students at the school’s model United Nations club, he addressed a larger group of high schoolers in the auditorium.
