The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 15 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

President Barack Obama says he'll sign a $50.5 billion emergency measure for Superstorm Sandy victims as soon as it lands on his desk. The U.S. Senate approved the bill Monday after the House earlier this month had stripped the bill of spending unrelated to disasters.

Stephen Gottlieb: Assassination by presidential decree – disclosure needed

David McCraw, vice-president of the New York Times and a graduate of Albany Law, has been involved in a lawsuit for documents showing how the Administration decided which Americans to assassinate who were on foreign soil but not in war zones. United States District Judge Colleen MacMahon decided that the government did not have “to explain in detail the reasons why its actions do not violate the Constitution and laws of the United States.”

NY Proposes New Hospital Rules For Treating Sepsis

Immigration Reform: NY Reacts

Supporters of Immigration reform have generally favorable reactions to a a bipartisan national immigration reform plan outlined today. 

The deal announced today covers border security, "guest workers" and employer verification, as well as a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants already in this country.

Inez Hernandez with Latino advocacy group Centro Civico in Amsterdam explains many "undocumented" immigrants just want to make better lives for themselves and their families.

Mass. Reactions to "Gang of Eight" Bipartisan Immigration Plan

The announcement of the U.S. Senate’s bipartisan plan to immigration reform was welcomed among advocacy groups in Massachusetts. A central pillar of the plan introduced by the so-called “Gang of Eight” is the Path to Citizenship, which would in part make undocumented immigrants to register with the Federal government, undergo background checks, and pay back taxes among other requirements.
