Karen Hitchcock: Medical Research: It’s A Matter Of Life And Death

Fifty years ago, a tiny newborn struggled for life. Born five and a half weeks premature, the son of then President John F. Kennedy was one of some 25,000 infants who succumbed annually to Respiratory Distress Syndrome, or RDS, the then leading cause of death in premature newborns.

A public forum on immigration reform is taking place this evening in Hudson.

Immigration reform advocates want Washington to make sure that millions of families are no longer separated by what they see as unjust policies, that due process is upheld, and that protections are strengthened for all workers.

Keith Strudler: A-Rod, The Yankees And The Playoffs

Perhaps the worst thing that could happen to the New York Yankees right now is that they actually make this year’s playoffs. It’s still a long-shot, with the Yanks some five games back and trailing three teams. But given their torrid pace of late, anything is possible. At a meeting Monday evening, the Malta Town Board voted unanimously to approve zoning legislation to allow GlobalFoundries, a computer chip manufacturer, to expand by building a second facility.

The company had been working with the town since it submitted its proposal for the 575,000 square-foot Fab 8.2 project last winter.
