New York Ethics Report in Sen. Lopez Scandal Could Be Released This Month

The state ethics commission report on the Assemblyman Vito Lopez sexual harassment scandal might finally be made public later this month.
The Joint Commission on Public Ethics, or JCOPE, issued a report on its investigation into sexual harassment charges against Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez back in February. The report was also to address how Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and his aides handled the matter.

Two NYS Lawmakers Introduce Term-Limit Legislation

Two freshman New York lawmakers from the Hudson Valley have joined together to introduce a bipartisan bill on term limits, which they believe are key to much-needed reform in Albany.

Democratic Senator Terry Gipson and Republican Assemblyman Kieran Lalor, both from Dutchess County, joined together across party lines Thursday to say term limits are long overdue, especially with political corruption so prevalent. Here’s Gipson, of Rhinebeck.

Each year at this time, thousands and thousands of young people across our country are readying themselves for one of life’s major passages:  graduation from college.  Two-year or four-year, public or private, our nation’s institutions of higher education have, once again, provided a learning experience which has profoundly changed the outlook of and prospects for our nation’s students.  These graduates leave their alma maters more confident, more poised and more knowledgeable. They appear ready to undertake new challenges and new opportunities, to advance their education or to join the world of work.  Most have the maturity necessary to move forward with clarity of purpose and, hopefully, the self-awareness required for personal growth and advancement. They appear, by and large, to be ready to fulfill their own unique potential.

Massachusetts Treasurer To Boehner: Let's Debate Taxes

Massachusetts Treasurer Steven Grossman

Massachusetts State Treasurer Steven Grossman has sent an invitation to the Speaker of the U.S. House Representatives, John Boehner, challenging the Republican to a debate over a bill that would require intern retailers to collect state sales taxes. Boehner has expressed reluctance about the bill, which Grossman, a Democrat, says would not only generate revenue, but level the playing field for brick-and-mortar retailers.
