The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 24 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

Stephen Gottlieb: We Will Not Comply

Did you hear the demonstrators against New York's new gun law chanting in unison "We will not comply!"

That's the problem. Guns allow some of their owners to think that they can define right and wrong and everybody else has to comply. In the hands of some of their owners, guns puff up their sense of self-importance, their sense that laws are written for everybody else but that they are above the law.

Fallen MLB great Canseco lobbies against supplement in Albany

Senate Co-Leader Jeff Klein is pressing to ban the performance enhancing supplement DMAA, also know n as Jack 3D in New York, saying it causes dangerous conditions like rapid heart beat, a spike in blood pressure, and in some cases, death from stroke or heart attack.

“This won’t be tolerated,” Senator Klein said.

Report Reveals Sequester's Impact on Community Health Centers and Underserved Populations

According to a recent analysis, community health centers and residents of medically underserved areas will be hard hit by federal budget cuts through sequestration.

The report released Monday as part of a collaborative study between the Geiger Gibson Program in Community Health Policy, part of the School of Public Health and Health Services at George Washington University, and the RCHN Community Health Foundation, reveals that due to federal budget cuts through sequestration, the nation’s 1,200 community health programs will lose $120 million in funding.

Mohegan Sun To Present Casino Plans At Public Forum In Palmer

One of the gaming industry heavyweights looking to build a resort  casino in western Massachusetts is expected to reveal more details about its project tonight at  an eagerly anticipated  public meeting. 

Mohegan Sun officials are expected to reveal changes to their original plans for a $600 million resort casino development in Palmer to address the competition that has sprung up in the last year for the lone casino license available in western Massachusetts.  The meeting is scheduled for 7PM at  Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Albany Academy Celebrates 200th Anniversary

This afternoon Albany Academy launched a 15-month bicentennial celebration.  The symbolic chiming of the clock tower bells, rung for the first time in 84 years, commemorated the beginning of a third century of education at the Albany Academies. Students, parents, faculty and alumni gathered at the Boy's School Front Circle to mark the 200th anniversary.
