The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 24 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

Gov. Cuomo Calls For More 'P-TECH' Schools

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to fund an experimental high school model that connects students with colleges and business to put them on a technology-focused career path.

In his budget proposal, Governor Cuomo is calling for $5 million to help start 10 more P-TECH schools in New York. The P-TECH model, short for Pathways in Technology Early College High School, is named after the school in Brooklyn that was launched 2011.

A day after a report said the Massachusetts economy grew solidly at the end of last year Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick came to western Massachusetts today to promote the state’s growing manufacturing sector.

Governor Patrick toured Advance Manufacturing Co. of Westfield -- a family- owned business that employs 200 people. The company makes precision parts that are used on submarines, fighter jets, helicopters and the International Space Station.

Paul Elisha: An Ancestral Ode

In a recent issue of the ‘American Poetry Review,’ a revered teacher of this commentator wrote of the proclivity of many notable poets for revising their work, after finding imperfections.  These, according to one anthropologist, were mischievously inserted by spirits of Nordic origin, to bedevil the poets into re-examinations.  In recent years, he claimed, there were fewer of these episodes, because poets had stopped believing in the spirits.  A dedicated poet, at heart, this commentator has found several verses among his own published works that might well benefit from such attention; not so much the result of folkloric mischief but changing times and ideas, that compel public attention.  This explains the following revision of several pertinent poems, now set in combined form and revised from (“SWASH” by Paul Elisha):
