LG Candidate Hochul Keeps A Low Profile

Credit Matt Ryan, New York Now

Governor Cuomo’s running mate, Lieutenant Governor Nominee Kathy Hochul, is keeping an unusually low profile during the first months of the election campaign. The lack of public campaigning by Hochul is starting to raise some questions.

Kathy Hochul, a former one term Congresswoman and former Erie County Clerk, appeared with Governor Cuomo at the Democratic State Convention in May, one day after she was chosen to run as Lieutenant Governor.

Keith Strudler: A World Cup Blowout

Having played my share of youth soccer, the vast majority for the JCC, I’m well familiar with blowout losses. We once lost a game 14-0. The Springfield Department of Public Works said an unacceptable amount of trash and other prohibited items have been turning up lately in the recycling containers people put out for curbside pick-up. Some contamination of the recyclables is allowed, but if it exceeds ten percent the city faces fines, according to Springfield’s recycling coordinator Greg Superneau.

NY Power Line Project In Discussion

Credit WAMC composite photo by Dave Lucas

A Columbia County power line initiative may finally get off the ground with minimal disruption to the environment and quality-of-life.

As New York state’s most prominent environmental groups ramp up their calls for green power and as other activists continue to demand a shutdown of the downstate Indian Point Nuclear Energy plant, demand for electricity has been increasing.
