Gov. Patrick Announces $200M For I-91 Project

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick announced funding today for a massive transportation project in western Massachusetts.

   Governor Deval Patrick announced $200 million will be spent to replace deteriorating concrete decks on the elevated section of Interstate 91 in downtown Springfield while simultaneously studying the possibility of depressing a portion of the highway to street level or below.

   Patrick announced the project during a speech at a lunch hosted by the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield.

Common Core Forum Tonight In Albany

Another Common Core forum is taking place tonight as  parents and community members are invited to attend a gathering at Albany High.

Common Core is a national set of standards that most states, including New York, have adopted, establishing benchmarks for what students should know in math and English by the end of each grade, K through 12.

State Health Exchanges Progress Report

Amid federal rollout troubles surrounding the online marketplace healthcare.gov., state health exchange directors gathered on a conference call today to counter the negative publicity.

President Obama promised to fix the broken promises and broken website stemming from his Affordable Care Act.  Observers say the flawed rollout of the federal website in six weeks accomplished what Republicans failed to do in three years: undermine support not only for Obamacare but for Obama the president.

Skidmore College Announces Partnership With NYSERDA To Train Executives In Clean Energy

The New York Executive Clean Energy Leadership Insitute- or NY EXCEL - is a new program launched by Skidmore College focused on training business professionals in the Empire State about renewable energy and the opportunities surrounding clean energy investment.

The college will partner with the Syracuse Center of Excellence, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium, and the Pace Energy and Climate Center.

DiNapoli Tours Mohawk Valley Flood Damage

It was in late June and early July that floodwaters caused severe damage in parts of the Mohawk Valley, and the recovery continues as the cold weather moves in. State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli toured the area today at the invitation of state Senator Cecelia Tkaczyk, including Fort Plain in Montgomery County, one of the towns that sustained some of the worst damage.
