The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 24 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

Rockland County Executive-Elect Wants Pay Cuts For Elected County Officials

The Rockland County executive-elect is already trying to deliver on one of his campaign promises -- cutting the salaries of elected county officials.

Republican Rockland County Legislator and County Executive-Elect Ed Day wants to get to work right away on some of him campaign issues.

And here’s one he began the day after he won Tuesday’s race.

He has to address such cuts differently, depending on the position.

He also wants to cut the salaries of those in high-level county government positions, such as commissioners.

NYS Republicans See Larger Strength In Local Wins

Republicans say their party’s county executive wins in the Hudson Valley and elsewhere in New York State bode well for the 2014 governor’s race.

The New York Republican State Committee’s executive director Michael Lawler was celebrating in Westchester County Tuesday night with supporters of incumbent Republican County Executive Rob Astorino, who won re-election to a second term in a county where Democrats outnumber Republicans by about 2-to-1.
