The program is hosted by WAMC Senior Correspondent Brian Shields who has been with WAMC for 24 years as senior news anchor, host and reporter.

NYS DOS Comment Period On Coastal Zone Policies For Indian Point Soon Ends

An environmental group that wants Indian Point shut down contends the plant violates these policies while an Indian Point spokesman says the plant remains in compliance.

Utility Co. Starts Third Solar Project In Western Massachusetts

A major utility company has started construction on a third large solar facility in western Massachusetts.  Despite being a northeast state Massachusetts has seen a boom in solar power over the last five years.

The new solar plant for Western Massachusetts Electric Company will contain over 13,000 solar panels that will generate 3.9 megawatts of electricity-enough to power more than 600 homes.  It is being built on a capped landfill on Springfield’s east side.  Company president Craig Hallstrom says it is the utility’s largest solar project so far.

Arts Venues: Limit Casino Entertainment

A coalition formed in response to a planned statewide referendum about whether to amend the New York constitution to authorize up to seven additional casinos held a press conference this morning at Capital Repertory in downtown Albany.

A veritable"who's who" of leaders of Capital Region arts non-profits gathered in a show of solidarity under the moniker "Upstate Theaters for a Fair Game." The group hopes to educate the public on what it sees as potential negative effects of casino expansion on what it refers to as "local entertainment ecosystems," noting that mid-sized arts and entertainment venues in neighboring states have been impacted by casino-based entertainment offerings.

Banks Will Have To Post Bond With Foreclosures To Secure And Maintain Properties
