A festival highlight is the American Music Festival Orchestra Concert on Saturday night at 7:30, featuring violinist Cho-Liang Lin will perform Joan Tower’s Violin Concerto. We welcome Lin to the show and he plays part of the piece for us.
Victoire fuses new age, rock and classical idioms. The members of Victiore are Missy Mazzoli, founder, composer and keyboard player; violinist Olivia De Prato, clarinetist Eileen Mack, keyboardist Lorna Krier, and bassist Eleonore Oppenheim and we welcome them to our broadcast.
We welcome Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Aaron Jay Kernis. He'll be part of the ASO’s Composer to Center Stage initiative, which continues a commitment to advancing new music. Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program is in its third year of a three-year collaboration between the ASO and several nationally acclaimed and emerging composers.
We speak with composer, Jeremy Spindler. He was selected by the Albany Symphony as one of three finalists in the Composer to Center Stage Reading Session Competition and will join the orchestra for the American Music Festival to take part in professional development and to have his work read by an orchestra.
