Some hostility toward Israel is just anti-Semitic. Some hostility toward Israel is Palestinian nationalism. Some is sympathy for the Palestinians generated by an enormously successful PR campaign. And some is self-inflicted. But all of us should be concerned. The policies of the Israeli government don’t represent me – nor should they. But they affect me.

From New York to Europe, Jews have faced discrimination in recent months.

In today’s Congressional Corner, New York representative Nita Lowey tells WAMC’s Alan Chartock that anti-Semitism is a persistent problem.

Simon and Garfunkel sang about “the sounds of silence,” that moment when you want to shriek in the face of conspicuous silence. Alas, we are experiencing this condition as the West intentionally reverses its gaze from the horrors committed in the name of Allah and cannot summon the voice to say “no.” We are reliving the late 1930’s – 1940’s when the world refused to acknowledge the bloodshed foisted by every step of jack-booted Nazis.

Did anti-Semitism play any role in the recent events in Ukraine, and Russia’s annexation of the Crimea region?

Herbert London: Anti-Zionism At Northeastern

In the Hudson Valley, the Pine Bush Central School District and its board continue to deal with multiple issues stemming from alleged incidents of anti-Semitism.

A 2-year-old lawsuit's allegations of anti-Semitism in Pine Bush have drawn national attention.

A New York congressman and state attorney general are pledging to push for coordinated federal and state response to allegations of religious discrimination and bullying in a school district in the Hudson Valley.

At long last an attempt is being made to curtail blatant anti-Semitic commentary at American universities. The Israel Law Center warns that universities “may be liable for massive damage” if they fail to prevent anti-Semitism on campus.

The center sent hundreds of letters to university presidents drawing a line in the sand. This Israel civil rights center is carrying out this campaign in response to an alarming number of incidents against Jewish and Israeli students at U.S. universities.
