New York's attorney general is accusing a mortgage lender of refusing to offer financing to African-Americans living in the western part of the state.
Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Tuesday alleging that Evans Bank intentionally excluded predominantly African-American neighborhoods on Buffalo’s east side from its lending area.
In a statement, bank President David Nasca says the 13-branch strong Evans will "vigorously" defend itself against “meritless accusations”.

The Boston Globe reports that RBS Citizens, better known as Citizens Bank, says Schilling personally guaranteed the debt to the bank but has "failed and refused" to pay it.
Schilling's 38 Studios filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection last week. It laid off its entire workforce in May soon after it was late in making a $1.1 million payment to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp.
