James Calnon served as a councilor for the city of Plattsburgh before being elected mayor in November 2013. The independent mayor of Plattsburgh announced on Monday that he will seek a second term.  Calnon says he thought about it for a while and felt there is unfinished business he wants to complete.

In March, Plattsburgh’s mayor appointed a citizens’ commission to draft changes to the city charter.  But with the deadline for ballot proposals looming, the mayor is now concerned that what the group is crafting will confuse voters.

During this past summer’s Mayor’s Cup sailboat race in Plattsburgh, Burlington’s mayor lost a friendly bet against mayor of Plattsburgh. He settled it by jumping into the cold waters of Lake Champlain this past weekend.

The city of Plattsburgh has announced its plans for 4th of July festivities.  A cornerstone of the events is changing, and the city is recruiting a new organization to help promote events.

The new mayor and Common Council in the city of Plattsburgh were sworn in on New Year’s Day.

The city of Plattsburgh elected a new mayor Tuesday in a three-way race that featured two independent candidates.

Vision2Action is an organization working to improve the greater Plattsburgh region by focusing on four priorities:  arts, recreation, transportation and education. The group sponsored a mayoral forum Tuesday evening on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley was one of three reporters on the panel.
