Berkshire Theatre Group

Tis the season for summer performance announcements in the Berkshires and the theatre company bearing the region’s name is right in the mix. The Berkshire Theatre Group is bringing a local favorite to the stage this year.

The Albany Berkshire Ballet was founded in 1960 by Artistic Director Madeline Cantarella Culpo as an outgrowth of her school, the Cantarella School of Dance, located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The Albany Berkshire Ballet is nationally recognized for its versatility in performing both classical and contemporary dance works with excellence and they will present Carmina Burana at The Egg in Albany, NY on Friday, May 2 and at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA on Saturday, May 3.

Artistic Director Madeline Culpo and Carmina Burana Choreographer Paula Weber, and company dancer, and teacher, Kerry Piaggione join us to tell us more.

In the seven years since her last album, Audra McDonald has kept busy…including singing the hook for Neil Patrick Harris' rap at the conclusion of Sunday’s Tony Awards. She spent several years in Hollywood, filming the television series Private Practice. She's gotten divorced and remarried, absorbed the shock of losing her father in a plane crash and watched her daughter, grow up from a kindergartener to a middle-schooler.

Last year, McDonald returned to New York, starred in The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and won a fifth Tony Award. All the ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies are reflected on her new album, Go Back Home. She will be performing at The Colonial in Pittsfield, MA tomorrow night at 8pm.

"Go Back Home" - by Kander and Ebb from Audra McDonald's latest album.

The five-time Tony Award winner will perform at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA on Saturday, June 15th.

Jim Breuer is one of the most recognizable comedians in the business, known for his charismatic stage antics, dead-on impressions and hilarious stand-up. In 1995 Breuer joined the cast of SNL, where< he quickly became a fan-favorite for his original character “Goat Boy” and his dead-on impressions of actor Joe Pesci.

Breuer will be at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA on Thursday June 6.

Joan Rivers

May 6, 2013

Joan Rivers is a comedy legend.

She continues to dominate television, retail sales on QVC and concert venues – including the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield on Friday night. She even still makes the headlines for offending someone about something.

Alan is joined by Kate Maguire, artistic director and CEO of the Berkshire Theatre Group, which includes the Berkshire Theatre Festival and The Colonial Theatre. A graduate of Boston College, Maguire has helped shepherd many productions from the Berkshires to New York and is also an accomplished actor.

Tomorrow night at 8pm, David Wax Museum is playing at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA. Their indie rock is a unique blend of Americana folk and Mexican son music. The New Yorker said of their sound that it “Kicks up a cloud of excitement with its high-energy border-crossing sensibility.”
