Schools all over the country are considering an alternative form of disciplining students called Restorative Justice, including in New York's Capital Region.

There have been many strategies that have been tried to stop bullying in schools. In Australia and elsewhere a practice called restorative justice is being employed in schools and in the workplace to settle disputes. Margaret Thorsborne is the Managing Director of Margaret Thorsborne and Associates and Transformative Justice Australia. She will speak tonight at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs on the concept and use of restorative justice, which has been used against bullying in schools.

All the attention in our region has been on prison issues in upstate New York in recent weeks. But next door, a report by the Vermont state auditor is critical of the Department of Corrections’ transitional housing program for released inmates.
