Charlotte d'Amboise - Broadway Revival of "Pippin"

    This week, Pippin opens on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre. With book by Roger O. Hirson, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is directed by Diane Paulus. This production features sizzling choreography in the style of Bob Fosse and breathtaking acrobatics by Les 7 doigts de la main. Gypsy Snider helmed the circus creation and choreography is by Chet Walker.

This is the first Broadway revival of Pippin since the Tony Award winning original production directed by Bob Fosse and starring Ben Vereen - which opened in 1972.

The cast features Matthew James Thomas, Patina Miller, Andrea Martin, Rachel Bay Jones, Terrence Mann, and Charlotte d’Amboise.

Tony Award nominee, Charlotte d’Amboise plays Fastrada - her other Broadway credits include Chicago, A Chorus Line, Jerome Robbins Broadway, Sweet Charity, Damn Yankees, Contact, Company, Carrie, Song & Dance, and CATS. She is also the co-founder (with husband Terrence Mann) of a Musical Theatre Intensive called Triple Arts.

Ulster Ballet Company's 30th Annual Festival of the Dance at UPAC

    On Saturday, March 23rd at 8PM, Ulster Ballet Company will present the 30th Annual Festival of Dance, to be held at Ulster Performing Arts Center (UPAC) in Kingston, NY. Since 1983, the festival has showcased professional dancers and choreographers with a diverse range of styles and techniques.

In celebration of the Festival’s 30th year, UBC will offer a very cool line up of innovative dancing that spans cultures and generations, in styles that include modern, tango, contemporary, ballet, swing, hip hop, ballroom, lindy, jazz, modern Irish and Armenian.

Jacob’s Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA co-present Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal

    This weekend, Jacob’s Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA co-present world-renowned contemporary ballet ensemble Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal at MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center.

The Montréal-based dance company blends a variety of dance styles, influences, and music in three diverse works by prominent, international choreographers.

This co-presentation coincides with the final month of MASS MoCA’s Oh, Canada exhibit, the largest survey of Canadian contemporary art ever produced outside of Canada.

Ella Baff, Jacob’s Pillow Executive and Artistic Director, and Sue Killam, Director of Performing Arts at MASS MoCA, join us to tell us more.

Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre's 31st Annual Gala at The Bardavon

    The Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre's annual gala performances at The Bardavon is in its 31st year. The events celebrate both brand new and classic works by a very talented company of dancers.

There will be two performances at The Bardavon this weekend, one at 8pm on Saturday and one at 3pm on Sunday.

Strike Dance, and Rise at The National Museum of Dance

  The National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, New York will host “Strike Dance, and Rise” tomorrow from noon to 8pm. The event includes dancing, sharing and drumming to raise awareness about violence against women – and that is only one of the important events they are working on this month. Here to tell us more is Ruby Whitney from the National Museum of Dance joins us to tell us more.
