Vermont Gets $18.25M More for More Irene Road Repairs

Vermont's congressional delegation says the state is going to get another $18.25 million to continue repairing roads damaged by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene and spring flooding in 2011.

The funding is part of $1.1 billion in new emergency relief funding approved by Congress. To get the federal funds Vermont will have to contribute about $4.26 million as a state match.

The Tri-State Area Awaits Sandy Disaster-Relief Funds

President Barack Obama says he'll sign a $50.5 billion emergency measure for Superstorm Sandy victims as soon as it lands on his desk. The U.S. Senate approved the bill Monday after the House earlier this month had stripped the bill of spending unrelated to disasters.

Congress passes $50.5B Superstorm Sandy aid bill

Yesterday the Senate cleared the bill, 62-36. Northeast lawmakers say the money is desperately needed to help recovery efforts from the one of the region's worst storms. The House passed the bill two weeks ago.

Residents of four more Hudson Valley counties eligible for disaster aid

Four more Hudson Valley counties have been added to the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Sandy. The declaration now offers Individual Assistance to residents of Orange, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster counties.

Rockland and Westchester counties were approved to receive the assistance days ago along with New York metropolitan area counties. Those two counties are also eligible for Public Assistance aid.
