Edgar May

Former Vermont state legislator Edgar May, who won a Pulitzer Prize during his earlier career at the Buffalo Evening News, has died.

May's sister, former Gov Madeleine Kunin, told Vermont Public Radio the 83-year-old May had suffered a stroke about three weeks ago, and died Thursday in Tucson, Ariz, where he kept a winter home.

During the 1960s, May worked as a reporter at the Buffalo Evening News in New York State, and won a Pulitzer Prize for an investigation of the state's welfare system.
