What is gambling? It would seem that question would bring an easy answer, but not so as far as the legal fight over daily fantasy sports is concerned. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has gone to court to shut down the sites operated by DraftKings and FanDuel, contending they are gambling and violate state law. The companies say they are games of skill, not gambling. For more on the legal arguments we spoke with Marc Edelman, an associate professor of law at Baruch College. Edelman specializes in sports and gambling law.

With her counterpart in New York having already taken action against the industry, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced new regulations for daily fantasy sports companies Thursday.


Hannover's police chief says authorities cancelled a friendly soccer match between Germany and the Netherlands because they had "concrete information" about a bomb threat.

The German news agency dpa quotes police chief Volker Kluwe saying the information concerned an explosives attack. dpa also cites unnamed security officials in Berlin that say a foreign intelligence agency had warned Germany of a possible attack by Islamic extremists.
