The Berkshire Festival of Women Writers 2013

    The Berkshire Festival of Women Writers is a month-long festival of women writers. We get a preview of all the events including panels, readings, lectures, and networking events.

A myriad of voices will be celebrated during the festival, including published playwrights; poets and novelists; bloggers; non-native speakers learning to write expressively in English and emerging writers. Panel discussions will be led by publishers, literary agents, social media strategists and other experts in the creative writing field.

10x10 Upstreet Arts Festival and Barrington Stage Company’s 10X10 New Play Festival

  The 10x10 Upstreet Arts Festival features over 70 events during Pittsfield’s second annual contemporary winter arts festival February 14-24 – performers include dozens of artists, actors, musicians, writers, comedians and more.

One highlight of the festival is the Barrington Stage Company’s 10X10 New Play Festival which features ten new ten minute plays, chosen from over 180 entries.

We are joined by Megan Whilden - Director of Cultural Development for the City of Pittsfield, and Laura Roudabush - Director of Marketing at Barrington Stage Company.

Mike + Ruthy at The Winter Hoot

The Columbia County Council on the Arts’ 18th Annual Arts Walk

The Columbia County Council on the Arts’ 18th Annual Arts Walk is taking place September 29th through October 8th.

It begins at Olana with “Creating Landscapes in the Landscape”: a plein air paint-out, art show, and auction and continues through the week with dance performances, music, literary readings, the Annual Riverfront Artists Marketplace, the Hudson Valley Bounty’s annual Chili Fest, and more!

2012 Adirondack Balloon Festival

The 40th annual Adirondack Balloon Festival kicks off Thursday and runs through Sunday. At the event’s opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. Thursday in Crandall Park in Glens Falls, the 40th anniversary will be celebrated with the launch of a special shape birthday cake balloon.

There are 104 balloons coming to this year’s festival, including 13 special shape balloons. That’s the largest number of special shape balloons that have ever been involved in the festival.

The 78th Annual Berkshire Harvest Festival --one of the largest and longest running events of its kind in the country-- takes place at the Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge, MA on October 6th and 7th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The Berkshire Harvest Festival features crafts, food, live music, a silent auction, kids’ activities – and more!
