The Vanguard Showhouse is an annual fundraiser for The Albany Symphony Orchestra. Each year the area’s top interior designers are tapped and set free in one room of a house to decorate for visitors to walk through and see how truly marvelous a home can look.

Open from April 30 through May 19, the 33rd annual Vanguard Designer Showhouse raises funds for the Albany Symphony. The public is invited to come to a different large area home each year to see about 20 updated spaces, each put together by a separate design team.

Susan Jacobsen, Showhouse Chair, Corey Aldrich, Showhouse Consultant, and Paula McCormick, interior designer join us to tell us more.

Tom Viola - Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

Equity Fights AIDS was founded in 1987 by the Council of Actors’ Equity Association. The money they raised across the country was used to support The Actors Fund’s AIDS Initiative. Broadway Cares was founded in 1988 by members of The Producer’s Group and the money they raised was awarded to AIDS service organizations, including Equity Fights AIDS.

The two organizations merged in 1992 and continue to fund the social service work of the Actors Fund and award grants to AIDS service organizations nationwide.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS' Executive Director, Tom Viola, joins us to tell us more about the history and mission of BC/EFA.
