Partnership Aims To Expand Wellness Program To Low Income Berkshire Residents

Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Berkshire Health Systems announced a new partnership with the Canyon Ranch Institute that will bring the Institute’s nationally recognized Life Enhancement Program to medically underserved and low-income individuals.

Dr. Richard Carmona, President of the Canyon Ranch Institute Board of Directors and the 17th Surgeon General of the United States, said prevention needs to be the new focus of healthcare providers.

Local Wellness Initiative Awarded $2 Million CDC Grant

The Go Fresh mobile farmer's market will expand its stops in Springfield because of a federal grant

The Centers For Disease Control has awarded a $2 million dollar grant for a wellness initiative in Springfield Massachusetts.  The money will fund several efforts aimed at improving access to healthy eating and physical activity.   WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill reports.
