Mass. Lt. Gov. Makes Reassurance On Local Aid

Mass. Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito met with Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse in his city hall office. It was her first stop on a statewide tour to meet with local officials to talk about the Baker administrations plans to strengthen state-local ties.

Expansion Of Holyoke Canal Walk Begins

State and local officials led by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick today marked the start of construction on a project to expand a pedestrian walkway around an industrial canal in Holyoke.  Officials say the canal walk will be an inviting place for both city residents and visitors.

Gov. Patrick Launches Open Cloud Computing Project In Holyoke

A new public cloud computing infrastructure is going to be developed in Massachusetts, as the state looks to position itself as a leader in the new sector known as “big data.” 

Massachusetts will put $3 million toward developing the open cloud project. The announcement was made by Governor Deval Patrick Friday at the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center in Holyoke.

" Massachusetts Open Cloud will be a virtual laboratory to big data researchers and innovators in industry, academia , and government all across the Commonwealth."

Urban Planner Hired To Direct Economic Development

Marcos Marrero,Holyoke's new Director of Planning and Economic Development

The mayor of Holyoke Massachusetts has made the first major appointment
of his new administration. Mayor Alex Morse, Wednesday, appointed a new
director of economic development. WAMC's Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief
Paul Tuthill reports.

        Mayor Morse has hired Marcos Marrero, a young urban planner and
policy professional with experience in energy and sustainability
projects to implement the young mayor's vision for revitalizing one of
the state's poorest cities.
