Rural Health Center in NY Rebuilds After Hurricane Irene

In 2011, Hurricane Irene severely damaged a family health facility in a rural area of Ulster County. Nearly two years later, the health center has been rebuilt.

When the doctors at Maverick Family Health of Woodstock opened a new clinic - Maverick West - on Route 28 in Boiceville in February 2011, they did so as part of a mission to make quality medical care available to all reaches of rural Ulster County. Maverick Family Health Center co-director Dr. Randy Rissman says Hurricane Irene had other plans.

Federal Housing Agency Says Westchester May Not Administer Sandy Funds

A federal appeals court has ruled that the Westchester County executive has not complied with a fair housing agreement from 2009. Now, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the county may not receive Superstorm Sandy disaster-relief money directly.

Rockland legislator calls for firing of convicted Brink's robber

NEW CITY – Former Weather Underground radical Kathy Boudin teaches at Columbia University and Columbia School of Social Work. Rockland County Legislator Edward Day, a former police officer, called for her termination.

Boudin was a member of the gang that ambushed a Brink's armored truck in Nyack in 1981, killing two police officers and a Brink's guard.

Day, who is a parent of a Columbia student, and a candidate for Rockland County executive, said Boudin, now 69, should not have been paroled in 2003 and should not be educating students. She is an adjunct professor.
