Janet Duprey

Albany has been the subject of many headlines in recent weeks, with its past leaders in the midst of high-profile corruption trials. But the New York state Legislature is on recess until January, so members are working in their districts.  115th  Assembly district Republican Janet Duprey attended a recent forum on the heroin and drug addiction crisis in the North Country.  A member of the Assembly Minority Task Force on Heroin Addiction & Community Response, she told WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley that some progress is being made drafting legislation to deal with the statewide addiction crisis.

The state Assembly representative for the region that includes the Clinton Correctional Facility is slamming the plea deal that the Clinton County District Attorney reached with Joyce Mitchell, who pleaded guilty this week to helping inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat escape from the maximum security prison last month. Republican Janet Duprey of the 115th district tells WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley justice was not served.

The Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce held its annual Legislative breakfast forum Friday morning. It’s an opportunity for the community to meet and pose questions to their Senate and Assembly representatives in Albany.
