In tennis news, the 77-year British drought is over. Andy Murray became the first British male since Fred Perry in 1936 to win Wimbledon yesterday.
Last year Murray was defeated by seven-time champ Roger Federer. The second-seeded Murray needed three hours and nine minutes to complete a 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 triumph over Novak Djokovic.
Checking baseball scores, Jered Weaver outdueled John Lackey and the Angels blanked Boston 3-0. Mike Trout and Hank Conger homered to help Weaver improve to 3-4.
Jered Weaver tossed the second no-hitter of the young baseball season by pitching the L.A. Angels past Minnesota 9-0.
Weaver struck out nine and walked one. The Twins never came close to getting a hit against the All-Star right-hander.
An 18-game winner a year ago for the Angels, Weaver joined the Chicago White Sox pitcher Phil Humber in the no-hit club of 2012. Humber tossed a perfect game against Seattle on April 21.
