Over the past three decades, Jane’s Ice Cream, founded by sisters Jane and Amy Keller, has grown from their humble beginnings as a street side lunch spot in Phoenicia, NY, into a regional ice cream powerhouse. Jane’s Ice Cream supplies the Tri-state area, Massachusetts, and some of New York City’s toniest hotels and restaurants, including the New York Palace Hotel and the Carlyle Hotel.

  Farmers, artisans, vintage collectors, and makers of handmade and quality goods will converge at the 2nd annual Basilica Farm & Flea, the large-scale farm-stand and flea market taking place over Thanksgiving Weekend at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, NY.

A local, artisan alternative to big box and mall shopping, Basilica Farm & Flea showcases fantastic wares made by regional and very talented people.

The weekend kicks off with the Black Friday Soirée from 5 to 9pm on Friday, Nov 28th - which will offer attendees local food, music, and fun.

Here now to tell us more are Melissa Auf der Maur, creative director of the Basilica Hudson, Farm & Flea’s farmer coordinator Lauren Giambrone (a farmer herself and maker of Good Fight Herb Co.), and Hudson River Exchange organizer Stella Yoon.

    Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, presented by The Valley Table magazine, celebrates the region’s cuisine and diverse dining scene, which continues to have a strong focus on sourcing local, sustainable, seasonal products during Hudson Valley’s fall harvest season.

HVRW returns for its 11th bi-annual event from November 3 (that’s today!) to the 16 with two-hundred restaurants from the region’s seven counties expected to participate in the two-week dining experience.

    Judy Wicks is an entrepreneur, author, and public speaker working to build a more compassionate, environmentally sustainable and locally based economy. Her memoir Good Morning, Beautiful Business: the Unexpected Journey of an Activist Entrepreneur and Local Economy Pioneer was published in March.

Judy is founder of Philadelphia’s landmark White Dog Café known for its leadership in the local food movement. She founded several non-profits including Fair Food Philly and the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia, and cofounded the nationwide Business Alliance for Local Living Economies.

Tonight, at 5:00 pm, Hawthorne Valley Farm in Ghent will host “A Declaration of Interdependence,” a new speaker series celebrating local living economies in the Hudson Valley and Greater Berkshire Region. They will be honoring Judy and she will also be speaking at a Re>Think Local event on Wednesday at Noon at the Barn at Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton.
